JOHANNES KIP

Kip was born in Amsterdam in 1652 but practiced in England. He etched and engraved series of bird's eye views of country estates, palaces and courts for the Britannia Illustrata and these were also published in Strype's edition of Stowe's 'Survey'. His engravings were chiefly after the drawings of his fellow Dutchman Leonard Knyff . Kip's first series of plates was published in 1707 followed by a second publication in 1715.
