MORTIER

Mortier executed a detailed series of large drawings illustrating eighteenth century Rome. The work included ancient Roman antiquities and more modern buildings, including palaces and churches. These stunning drawings were engraved on to copper plates to illustrate a series of volumes by Blaeu, published in Paris, describing all the towns of Italy.
